Why does my bobbin thread keep showing?

The most common reasons bobbin thread is showing on the top of your embroidery are incorrect thread tension, incorrect threading, the wrong bobbin thread, or a problem with the needle or bobbin. Here’s how to fix each one:

Thread tension is too tight
If the upper thread tension is too tight, it can pull the bobbin thread toward the front of the fabric. Lower the upper thread tension slightly and test the design again.

Machine is threaded incorrectly
Make sure the upper thread is correctly threaded through every guide and the tension discs. Even one missed thread guide can cause the bobbin thread to show.

Bobbin is inserted incorrectly
Check that the bobbin is installed in the correct direction and that the thread is properly placed through the bobbin tension area.

Wrong bobbin thread
Use a good-quality embroidery bobbin thread that is appropriate for your machine. Very heavy or unsuitable bobbin thread can affect stitch balance.

Bobbin tension problem
If the bobbin tension is too loose or too tight, it can change how much bobbin thread appears on the front. If adjusting the upper tension doesn't help, the bobbin tension may need to be checked.

Needle problem
A dull, bent, or incorrect needle can affect how the top and bobbin threads form stitches. Replace the needle with the appropriate embroidery needle for your fabric.

Design may be too dense
