Why is my embroidery thread not catching?
The most common reasons embroidery thread is not catching are an incorrectly installed needle, incorrect threading, a bobbin problem, incorrect needle position, or an issue with the machine's hook or timing.
Needle is installed incorrectly
If the needle is not inserted all the way or is facing the wrong direction, the hook may not be able to catch the upper thread. Remove the needle and reinstall it according to your machine's instructions.
Needle is bent or damaged
A bent or dull needle may not reach the correct position to form a stitch. Replace it with a new embroidery needle appropriate for your fabric and thread.
Upper thread is not threaded correctly
If the thread is not properly seated in the tension discs or thread guides, the machine may not form the loop needed to create a stitch. Completely remove the thread and rethread the machine carefully.
Bobbin is not installed correctly
Check that the bobbin is inserted in the correct direction and that the bobbin thread is properly seated in its tension guide. A bobbin that is not installed correctly can prevent the stitch from forming.
