Why is part of my embroidery design missing?
The most common reasons part of an embroidery design is missing are a problem with the embroidery file, a thread break, skipped stitches, incorrect file conversion, or the machine stopping before the design was completed.
The Machine Stopped Before Finishing
If the machine stopped because of a thread break, needle problem, or error, part of the design may not have been stitched. Check where the machine stopped and see if it can resume from the correct stitch.
Thread Broke or Was Not Feeding
A broken upper thread or bobbin thread can leave part of the design unstitched. Rethread the machine and check that the thread is moving freely through the thread path.
Skipped Stitches
A damaged needle, incorrect threading, or a bobbin problem can cause the machine to skip stitches. This can make sections of the design appear incomplete.
Problem With the Embroidery File
A damaged file or a file that was not saved correctly may be missing stitches. If possible, download the design again and compare it with the original file.
File Conversion Changed the Design
Converting an embroidery design from one format to another can sometimes change or remove stitch information. If the problem appeared after conversion, try using the original format whenever your machine supports it.
Design Was Resized
Significant resizing can change stitch placement and may cause some small details or sections of the design to stitch incorrectly.
Machine Did Not Read the Entire Design
If the machine skips a section or stops unexpectedly, check whether the file is compatible with your machine and whether the design fits completely within the selected hoop.
Quick Troubleshooting Checklist
- Check whether the machine stopped before finishing.
- Check for a broken or improperly threaded thread.
- Replace a damaged needle.
- Check the bobbin and bobbin area.
- Try the original embroidery file.
- Avoid unnecessary file conversion or significant resizing.
- Make sure the design fits your selected hoop.
Best Tip
If the same section is missing every time you stitch the design, try the original file without resizing or converting it. If the missing stitches remain, the embroidery file may need to be checked.
