What Embroidery Format Does the Janome Memory Craft 550E Use?
The Janome Memory Craft 550E uses the JEF embroidery format. Choose the file ending in .jef when you download a design for this machine.
The Janome Memory Craft 550E has a maximum embroidery area of 7.9 x 14.2 inches (200 x 360 mm), which is large for a home machine. Designs in 4x4, 5x7 and 6x10 sizes all fit.
The machine comes with four hoops. Match your design size to the smallest hoop that holds it:
- 4x4 designs fit the SQ14b hoop (5.5 x 5.5 inches)
- 5x7 designs fit the RE20b hoop (5.5 x 7.9 inches)
- 6x10 designs fit the RE36b hoop (7.9 x 14.2 inches)
To use a design on the Memory Craft 550E:
- Unzip the download on your computer.
- Find the .jef file in the size you want.
- Copy it to a USB flash drive.
- Plug the drive into the machine and select the design on the screen.
Janome machines look for designs in a specific folder on the USB drive. If your design doesn't appear, check your manual for where to place the file.
